ONE OF THE STARS is an inclusive digital tribute platform that compassionately captures and honours the stories and legacies of individuals from all walks of life, fostering remembrance, connection, and solace.
WHAT THIS FORUM DOES FOR YOU:
- it will give you a platform to publicly or privately remember and memorialise your loved ones
- it will foster your cultural identity, pride and sense of belonging
- recording your genealogy will strengthen your family bonds
- It could give access to potential genetic health risks
- It gives a central place for your family tree that can be accessed by generations to come
We call those who are remembered, STARS.
HOW DOES ONE OF THE STARS WORK? Video Tutorial
There are 10 floating STARS. Click on the yellow shooting star icon on the top right of your screen to randomly refresh the floating STARS.
Click on any floating STAR to bring it forward and learn more. Or, click on SEARCH to find a STAR.
There are two aspects to ONE OF THE STARS:
1) The PUBLIC aspect, where the information you share is accessible to all users who interact with this website.
2) The PRIVATE aspect, where your information is only accessible to the individuals with whom you share your account.
START YOUR OWN REMEMBRANCE TREE
Examples of Remembrance trees you can create:
1) Family Ancestral tree.
2) School or any other learning institution remembrance tree.
3) Club remembrance tree.
4) Company remembrance tree.
5) Cemetery/War Memorial Listings.
There is no cost to create an account and there are no membership fees. To start your own Remembrance tree, click the LOGIN button to create an account. You then select REGISTER. Once you have gone through the SUBSCRIBE procedure, you can then LOGIN. A menu will open. Click on ADD STAR. If you need help, click on VIDEO TUTORIAL. You can share your LOGIN details with anybody you trust to assist in developing your Remembrance tree.
You can chose from a gallery of 150 beautiful backgrounds to personalise your notice.
When you have finished your STAR and saved the data you will then be taken through to the PAYMENT PORTAL. Once the payment has been made your completed STAR will appear in the EDIT page where you can submit information about the STAR. You can also add links to any platform that might disseminate information about this person. Eg. you might have more photographs, videos, articles etc published on other platforms like Google Drive, DropBox, FaceBook, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo etc.
To share a STAR, just click on the email icon. The active STAR will be sent as a link.
Clicking on the X button will hide all windows and allow you to explore the floating STARS. Who knows perhaps the universe will send you someone you knew!
You can use ONE OF THE STARS as a screensaver by opening it in its own tab and clicking on this tab when you take a break.
You can create a Remembrance tree in your own language. If you need to translate any information from another STAR then copy the text and use Google translate. Here is the link: https://translate.google.com/
